Recommended mentoring agreement template
This mentoring agreement relates to the meditation teacher training of:
[insert mentee name] (Mentee)
under the supervision of: [insert mentor name and credentials] (Mentor)
Aims and Objectives, to:
- Assist the mentee to reflect on their teaching experience
- Ensure the mentee develops effective ways to manage the development of their students
- Provide a safe place for honest reflection
- Ensure the welfare of students taught by the mentee is safeguarded
- Achieve the eight hours of supervision required for promotion to Full Membership with MA
Supervision Commitment:
The mentee agrees to commit to completing eight hours of supervision to achieve the goal of full MA membership, comprising some or all of the following activities:
- Teaching as a trainee teacher under direct supervision
- Assisting an accredited MA teacher in class
- One-to-one professional consultation
- One-to-one or small group mentoring sessions.
Roles and Responsibilities of mentor, to:
- Encourage mentee’s ongoing professional/personal development
- Challenge mentee to validate their approach and techniques used
- Monitor basic micro-skills
- Offer alternative approaches for the mentee
- Intervene where client welfare may be at risk
- Ensure ethical guidelines and standards are maintained
Of mentee, to:
- Pay mentor for his/her services
- Be punctual in attending mentoring sessions
- Uphold ethical guidelines and professional standards
- De-identify client cases and written notes before discussing them with the mentor
- Be open to change and consideration of alternative methods of practice.
We agree, to the best of our ability, to uphold the guidelines described in this mentoring agreement and to manage the supervision relationship and process according to the Code of Ethics and Conduct of Meditation Association of Australia.
